Introduction

You know that moment when you're too much into doing something that you forgot to actually do the first step? Yeah, that's me right there. And I've just realized that I haven't introduced myself as the owner of this blog so before you guys chuckle at my silliness, here it goes.

I'm Ellaine, 26-years old gal from the Caloocan, Philippines and this is my very first blog. It's the first if you don't count my Livejournal account which I already had since 2009. I mainly use that account for reading fanfiction though so I don't often post in it. I have two LJ accounts by the way and the one I shared here is my fanfic account. The much older one is used for very personal purposes, if you know what I mean.

Currently unemployed (after my fourth employer just determinedly ruined my life for me), I'm now in search of something useful but comfortable to do. I'll tell you this, I haven't written anything more than a few paragraphs since my college days which is part of the reason I created this blog. For writing practice, yes.

I must admit though that I write rather clumsily even though I took up Literature as major in college. We don't necessarily study grammar back then as we're most on research or analysis and I've only ever gained knowledge on the English language because I made reading a staple part of my life. Something I'm very grateful to my parents for as they're advocates of learning and will not neglect even a single piece of knowledge they can impart to me and my sisters.

Speaking of siblings, I have two namely Erika and Eula. I'm the eldest among the three, Erika comes second after a 4-yrs gap then Eula after 10-yrs. Pretty large age gaps right? Yeah, mama's not the type to get pregnant easily even after planning and to be honest, at first I thought that's exactly what they did. Well, we're blessed in that kind of way I guess.

Ok so I guess that's a bit too personal for you peeps and I'd like to apologize because I tend to rather type whatever comes first to mind. I'm scatterbrained and the only person who can keep me in check is my long time college friend Bianca. Give her a shout out if you think it's time for my medicine, haha. She knows every nook and canny of my being, even better than I do. Kinda scary but she claims it's love so yeah, whatever (peace babe, don't slap me next time ^^v).

Anyway, I'm not really sure how I can let you guys know more about myself. Obviously I'm into reading manga and books. I'm also (still) into K-Pop though my attention to said fandom has already stabilized to just watching concerts or tweeting about them. No more buying expensive albums because honestly, I have more important things I can spend money on. Not unless it's a really good compilation of songs though, I wouldn't mind shelling out a bit more if that's the case. Speaking of which I really appreciate any kind of good music. You may say I'm kind of eclectic but I don't think I am. I don't enjoy listening to jazz music unless I'm dancing it which, most often than not, forced upon me. But I do like musicals though and I'm currently crazy about Phantom of the Opera.

I grew up in a family who appreciates music as well as a few choir member relatives. My papa for one was a choir leader back in the day and my mama was a member in the soprano group. So maybe you can imagine how my childhood was spent. Yes, almost 90% of it was spent singing my heart out. And I won't change even a tiny bit of it. :)

I could go on forever talking about my life but I don't think blogs go that way so I'll just try to wrap things up from here. You can expect many random things being talked about here from this day forward and nope, I won't be posting every day. I'm still on that phase where I'm trying to mend things back with my muse and after years of neglect, she's rather pissed and stubborn to get back. I'll appreciate a wish of luck tossed my way though if you can spare me one.

See yah later!

Manga Review - Akatsuki no Yona by Mizuho Kusanagi

I haven't been able to do a manga review before. So this is something new although it has been done by thousands of people around the globe. Will introduce one of my recently favored mangas, Akatsuki no Yona or roughly translated to Yona of the Dawn (I never had even the slightest background on Japanese language I'm just purely depending on the translation entries from Google). picture credits to owners, linked the images used through out this post directly from source At first, I though it was a manhwa, considering the names of the characters which are kind of Korean sounding if you let it roll on your tongue. I do have background on the Korean language (took it up until level 3) but hey, I'm no expert so it's up to you to decide. Anyway, the story revolves around a princess (yes, it started off in a typical shoujo character development) named Princess Yona, the daughter of King Il of the Kouka Kingdom. She's described as a spoiled princess g...

Manga Review - Honeymoon Salad by Ninomiya Hikaru

First off, a warning for adult concepts ahead. So yeah, I know I mentioned a book review for my next post but I'm a lazy ass and since I've already read the manga, I thought why not just make a review out of it. Today I'll review Ninomiya Hikaru's Honeymoon Salad published from February 29, 2000 to March 29, 2002. The manga has 5 volumes and 41 chapters and to be quite honest, you can actually read the whole of it in just one sitting. Anyway, I'm still kind of thinking if I like this manga or not but if you're into an emotional junk roll then you can probably add this to your reading list. linked image credit to owner The story basically revolves around 3 main characters: Natsukawa Minori was your average salary man. He's quite a level headed guy even if he's already angry. And like any other cliche, Minori's story started on a pretty normal day with him running late and accidentally bumping to the meek Saito Ichika, his soon to be com...

On Holidays and Job Hunting

I'm back! And yes, as the title suggests I wasn't able to post much due to the holiday season. T'was a really fun time for me and my family though relatively quieter and less busy than last year's. Nevertheless, I'm still quite thankful that we are yet able to go through another year together no matter the obstacles that came our way. Anyhow, I'm quite in the mood to post about things tonight as I wasn't able to for the last few days. To start of, let me just say congratulations to the recent crowning of our very own Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015. So proud of you girl! And yes, that gave away my nationality didn't it? Haha, one proud Filipina here ya'll! :) So every happy occasion aside, downside of the ending holiday season is that I'm going to have to face the fact that I'm still utterly jobless and looking for a job this time around is quite more difficult than the last few ones. Yes, I'm what you may call a job-hopper...
